How to Split a PDF into Separate Files

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between splitting and extracting pages?
Splitting usually means dividing one PDF into several files, while extracting means pulling one or more pages out into a new document. JadePDF supports both: use ranges to extract, or chunk mode to divide the whole file evenly.
Can I split a PDF into files of a fixed number of pages?
Yes. In chunk mode you choose how many pages each output file should contain. For example, a 50-page PDF split every 10 pages produces five files.
Will the split files keep their bookmarks and links?
Page content, text, and images are preserved exactly. Some document-level features such as internal links that point to pages in another part of the file may not work after splitting.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Splitting happens entirely in your browser, so no installation and no account are required.
